Everybody knows the happiest cows around are grazing in Wisconsin !!!!!
The cows are usually out grazing the hills and valleys here on the Meuer Farm from April till October. This year is no exception. These are some of the cows and pasture you will see on the hayrides that take place here on the Meuer farm. Hayrides take place during the "MAZE" season, and on special weekends. We also do hayrides by special request!

What's Happening This Week!!!
08/11/2010 We have no sweet corn available at this time. The bridge pictures and pictures from the bridge are on the maze page. The maze will be completed by Wednesday. To schedule your fieldtrips or other parties please call the farm at (920) 849-7816.
08/18/2010 Fieldtrips and group outings started this week. At least the weather has cooled off for people going thru the maze. Next week is suppose to be warm again though. The bridge in phase 1 has been a hit so far. And the mini-mazes on the lawn by the activity area are proving to be quite challenging. The vehicle located in the shooting range for the corn cannons and slingshots has been taking some hits lately from corn cob and water balloon fire. Remember, group outings by appointment at this time , we are letting come to the maze and all activities are open. Your group should have at least 12 people in it.
08/26/2010 Took the chickens to be butchered this week. There are only 3 chickens left for sale and in the freezer if someone is interested. Just contact the farm. We are finishing up odds and ends this week and getting ready for media day next week. Watch your local TV station and newspapers for pictures and stories from the maze. We are going to start chopping corn silage early next week.
09/02/2010 Media day was today. Glad the weather held, what a great day. The helicopter shot of the maze is on the maze page. We had lots of newspapers along with Discover Wisconsin, WFRV Channel 5 and FOX 11. Fox 11 story aired tonight and Millaine Wells, Channel 5 will feature us on the Sunday Morning Roadtrip on Sept. 19th. I just love the helicopter ride above the maze. Remember, the helicopter will be here for rides on Sept. 25th. and 26th. Corn silage harvest is all finished up and tomorrow we head to the Calumet Co. Fair. Nine days till the maze opens!!!!! Tuesday we start harvesting pumpkins.
The Calf or The Cash!!!
In 2012 the Ayrshire Breeders National Convention will be held in Fond du Lac, WI. In order to help raise money for this event, the Meuer Farm has donated a registered Ayrshire calf as one of the prizes in the raffle. First place is this registered calf or $500. Second place is a 2 night stay at Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells. Third place is a 27'" flat screen TV. Tickets are 1 for $2 or 3 for $5 and are available at the Meuer Farm all fall long. Stop in and visit the calf this fall. Drawing will be held in April, 2011.
This Years Feature Exhibit is "2010 The Year of The Niagara Escarpment"
We have been working with the Niagara Escarpment Resource Network, NERN, to help celebrate the year of The Escarpment. We thought it was appropriate since our property lies on the western slope of the Escarpment. There is an awesome display set up in the 'Americas Dairyland Learning Center" on our farm this year to help celebrate this. Along with the escarpment logo being cut into the corn maze this year. See the maze page. For more information about the escarpment, go to www.escarpmentnetwork.org and check out their web site.

Field trips
One of the most exciting times on our farm is giving fieldtrips. We have fieldtrip packages available for day cares and school children of all ages. Fieldtrips are available most times of the year, but the most exciting time is during the time that the maze is open. We have fieldtrips available if you want to bring your whole school, or certain grades or just your class, such as a science, biology or agriculture class. What bettter place to learn about science, biology, forestry or soil and water conservation than on a real working farm. We continue to offer low prices for school fieldtrips due to the cutbacks in school budgets. This is also our way to give back to the community by trying to introduce and educate children about agriculture and food production. All fieldtrips are handicap accessible. Most groups spend 2 1/2 - 3 hours here for a fieldtrip. You are welcome to spend all day or make your fieldtrip as short as needed to fit your schedule.
Our fieldtrips during the maze include the following:
- Movies to introduce children to dairy and corn production, and how the maze was made. (1/2 hour )
- An educational hayride (1/2 hour )
- Doing one phase of the maze (20 minutes)
- Access to the activity area (as long as you want)
- Area provided to eat your lunch (inside and out)
You can bring bag lunches, bring bag lunches and get your milk here, or place your food order at our food stand when you arrive and it will
be ready when your group is ready to eat. (Prices are very affordable)
- A free pumpkin, gourd or cob of Indian corn to take along home
- A free pass for the child to come back to the maze with their parents.
The price for this fieldtrip package is:
$3.50/ child Pre-K thru 8th. grade
$5.00/ child Grades 9 thru 12
Every group requires one teacher or chaperone for every 6-7 children. For these teachers and chaperones, their admission is free. For extra adults that want to come along, that is fine, but their price is $7.00/person. Children and parents should bring some spending money along. There are special reduced prices for school kids to shoot the corn cannons and pumpkin slingshots. Parents, children or chaperones are welcome to purchase fall and halloween decor for decorating their schools or homes.
Fieldtrips during the maze in 2010 will begin on Sept. 6, 2010 and run thru Oct. 29, 2010. It is best to call or e-mail us as soon as you have a date picked out to reserve your date and time. We need to know your date, arrival time, contact person and phone number, how many students, your departure time and your plans for lunch. Even with as much rain as we had in 2009, there were no fieldtrip cancellations due to weather. The program in the main building is inside, the farm animal area is inside as is the straw fort. The duck races and corn box have roofs over them and lunch will be inside. There are other inside activities such as movies, pumpkin carving and pumpkin decorating that can be done in adverse weather.
